carecareers Presentation

Site's statement

carecareers is a not-for-profit recruitment initiative aimed at increasing attraction and retention within the community care and disability sector. Our jobs board www.carecareers.com.au has expanded to meet demand for an Australia wide platform for a broad range of roles within the community sector.

Jobboard Finder’s opinion

Summary: CareCareers is a specialist job board created be the NSW government in association with NDS (National Disability Services) in 2009. A particularly vibrant job board, with many photos and colours, the not-for-profile job initiative offers roles primarily in aged care, disability, community and healthcare. Interestingly enough, only a little more than half the views come from Australia (so about 55 620 views a month) and the rest are from the US, Canada and other countries. On social media, the pages are kept updated for the 2 965 followers on Twitter, 7 356 on Facebook, 911 on Linkedin and 416 on the Youtube page (which is called NDSNSW).

Design: The homepage is very colourful. The search engine (keywords and the location) appears above alternating images of people working care-giving positions. Under that, the screen is split into four different coloured squares: the quiz, the blog, an interactive map and the employer directory. The featured employers lead to customised company pages but without the job offers. Other companies can be found in the company listing in alphabetical order with logo, contact information and a summary of what the company does. As for the job listing, the job offers appear in large boxes including the company name, the job title, the logo, the publication date, the position, the work type and the location. Once opened, the descriptions are usually rather long and useful information is on the right-hand side. To cull the offers, you have filters (role, location, work type, salary, jobs by company) with the number of jobs per category are in brackets. Be careful though, if you alter the salary, you will only see offers, which have indicated the pay in the same way you have (hourly, for example). To sort the offers, you have sorting by relevance, views, and newness or alphabetical order.

The job board objective: CareCareers hopes to motivate more people to work in care-giving professions. It also wants to help them through the process of finding work and building a career.

Recruiter observations: The prices are on the website. It’s easy to create an account and the prices appear as you build your advert so that you know just what you’re spending. The company needs to be located in Australia. You can redirect the job offer to another page and you can include questions.

Jobseeker observations: Many job offers redirect you to a form or a career page. That said, you can still create an account for the offers that don’t and to appear in the CV database.

The job offers: At the moment, there are 1 003 job opportunities. Community jobs and healthcare & medical jobs are the most in-demand.

Reactivity: The team answered very quickly.

Special features: The quiz (which you can take in several languages and which is based on image answers); description of the different sectors; the courses; the text size (which hardly makes a difference); the job alerts; the blog (including the true stories).

Verdict: CareCareers makes care-giving professions particularly appealing. It’s fantastic to see jobseekers encouraged to pursue a career by the side of people who are in dire need of more assistance. We would recommend it for both recruiters and jobseekers.
