Emploi-Environnement.com Presentation

Site's statement

Since 2002 Emploi-Environnement.com is the leading job board in the field of environment (air, water, waste, energy ...) in French language

Emploi-Environnement.com is ran by Cogiterra, an independant, specialised, and private press company.

Jobboard Finder’s opinion

Summary: As a part of the Cogiterra group, Emploi Environnement is just one of a handful of sites focused on the environment. This particular one is a specialist job board in environmental jobs.  The site appeared in 2003, when David Ascher and his wife, Carine Seghier, cofounded Cogiterra. Over the years, the site has grown and now gets as many as 163 670 views a month. Its presence on social media is well established on Linkedin (11 236 followers), on Facebook (11 988) and on Twitter (6 420) but there are only 11 followers on Youtube.

Design: The website has a relatively small print, but it doesn’t appear particularly out-of-date, unlike some websites with a similar design. With the search engine at the top of the page, featured recruiters just underneath (who are hiring for one job on average) and recent job offers, the focus of the site is clearly on work. That said, a number of journalists write for the site and half the homepage is comprised of recent titles. The search engine (keywords, the sector, the location, the experience) includes “the type of contract” when in the job listing for the filters. You can also access the different job sectors from the top of the page. In the listing, the job title, the logo, the location, the required experience, the contract type and the publication date are visible. Most offers are quite long but clearly broken down into sections.

The job board objective: Emploi Environnement aims to keep jobseekers and recruiters informed on all the current positions working toward improving the environment.

Recruiter observations: It’s easy for recruiters to create an account (you just have to provide some information about the company). You can view the pricing through your account or from the footer.

Jobseeker observations: If you create an account, you are encouraged to include your Linkedin or Viadeo URLs so that recruiters can find you. The CV remains visible for a limited amount of time. Past that date, jobseekers must reactivate the visibility. As for applications, you are sometimes redirected. Otherwise, a small form appears for you to fill out.

The job offers: 1 810 job offers on the site at the moment. The oldest job offers still on the site are from the month of October, but most of them are recent. Most of the offers are in water or development and planning.

Reactivity: There are photos of everyone from the team and a brief explanation of what they do. You can even go directly to specific journalists’ articles. The phone number is only available through the recruiter access page.

Special features: Job alerts; the (expensive) courses; the articles; the jobs and courses relating to the theme next to the articles; the past offers; the job sheets (including a description of the job the required education and the current hiring companies); the journalist articles; the advice on orientation.

Verdict: If you’re looking to work towards helping the environment and you have a certain number of degrees, then definitely check out Emploi Environnement. If you don’t have the right qualifications, you can still keep an eye on the articles and consider taking one of the courses.
