Jobup.ch Presentation

Site's statement

N°1 online recruiting platform in French-speaking Switzerland, putting tailor-made offers to its clients for publishing and managing postings, application management, providing access to a CV database dedicated to recruitment and employer branding solutions on the various platforms.

As part of JobCloud SA, we are the leading company in the digital recruitment field on the Swiss market. JobCloud runs the two Swiss generalist online recruiting platforms jobup.ch and jobs.ch, both founded in 2000, among other platforms dedicated to specialists and executives. The company is owned by the publishers Ringier and Tamedia. With a long-standing experience, JobCloud SA positions itself as a meeting facilitator and a leader in career management, both for recruiters and for jobseekers.

Jobboard Finder’s opinion

Summary: Jobup is just one of Swiss generalist job boards that belong to JobCloud. In fact, this site and Jobs.ch are the two leading job boards in Switzerland (not including Indeed)! As many as 1.48 million visits a month are recorded on SimilarWeb (which is up from a couple of years ago), and it’s not hard to see why. The interface is user-friendly, recruiters have access to free posting, jobseekers can apply without an account and the site is available in English and French. The team has gone to a lot of trouble to appeal to all kinds of users, and even include quirky photos of the team on JobCloud as well as useful information about the company. On social media, Jobup seems to be estranged from Twitter (only 192 followers and no updates since 2019), but it keeps up a good front on Facebook (34 741 followers), on Linkedin (7 129) and on Youtube (147 followers and many videos).

Design: The dominant colour is green for the backdrop image and the other pages of the site. On the homepage, you can start browsing the company pages and follow your favourites, or you can start your job search thanks to the search engine (keywords and the location) or with the different grids: the grid of the most popular categories, the one for the most popular cantons or the one for the most popular cities. Once in the job listing, an offer automatically appears open and takes up the entire screen, except for the listing, which appears on the left-hand side (like in an e-mail account). The customised layouts are nice, but as most of them are PDF files, Google Translate cannot translate them. The offers are sorted by relevance or by date.  There are no filters but you can use the advanced search for more specific criteria: the industry, the type of contract, the type of employer (a big company, a small one or a recruiter) or the level of activity. As for the company pages, they include reviews, the foundation date, the benefits and the multimedia from the company.

The job board objective: Jobup gives jobseekers and recruiters a leg up. Whether you want to hire or you want to work in Switzerland, Jobup can help.

Recruiter observations: As a recruiter, you can create an account and order a job advert through the site, and you can even post for free for 30 days. The site lets you download your own PDF or create a post. The prices vary depending on if you are recruiting in German or Romandy Switzerland. Other interesting features include sending candidates without the right skills an automatic negative response, choosing to disclose or hide your contact information and choosing how candidates contact you.

Jobseeker observations: It’s easy to create an account (even if you don’t need one to apply to job offers). You don’t need to fill out your profile either. However, every time you apply to an offer, you must fill out a short form; include a CV and a cover letter of at least 100 characters.

The job offers: There are also 40 000 job offers. Training and health are the most popular categories.

Reactivity: The team answered within a couple of days and they were helpful.

Special features: Career advice; the blog (or job coach); the app; the many photos of the team (with funny alternating photos); the company reviews; job alerts (or JobMailer); the international recruitment service; the statistics (on the recruiter account); the icons; the visibility options (which are different for companies and recruiters); Firstbird; the resume parser; the CV database exploring.

Verdict: Jobup gets thumbs up for their great transparency. The interface design is easy-to-use for recruiters and jobseekers alike. If you’re in Switzerland looking for work or for hires, you’re bound to be dealing with JobCloud, so Jobup is a good place to start.
