Jobboard Finder’s opinion

Summary: Dodi is a popular generalist job board in Japan, it attracts 7.74 million visits a month and it recently opened it 17th branch. Doda is created by Persol Career, a recruitment and consulting firm in Japan, which also owns a number of other websites. Even if the site is only available in Japanese, the layout is similar to a Western job board. It has a Twitter account (12 800 followers), a Facebook account (1 400 followers) and a Hatena Bookmark link.

Design: Not quite as cluttered as some Asian websites, Doda manages to present all of its services on the homepage. Split into two parts, there is a large main section, and complementary information along the right-hand side. In the main section, under the image of a professional woman, you have the search engine (keywords, type of job, location, salary). Underneath, you have featured jobs (listed as new or expiring soon), featured categories (including an image, the number of current offers and sub-categories), featured locations, services for recruiters and services for jobseekers. In the side section, you have the login, a job compatibility test, featured jobs and recent articles. Once you get into the list of jobs, the filters (type of employment, location, industry, industry, revenue) appear on the left-hand side and you can tick a number of boxes including: new jobs, two-day weekends; expiring soon, annual leave of 120 days or more, entry-level jobs, etc. The jobs appear in large boxes, which includes a description of the company and detailed information on the filter criteria.

The job board objective: Doda aims to help people change careers.

Recruiter observations: There is very detailed information about the services (not including the price). To advertise with Doda, you need to contact the team.

Jobseeker observations: To apply to job offers, jobseekers need an account. Your name must be written in Japanese characters (and even then, the form can play up). It’s easy to fill out the form, but be warned that it can still malfunction once you get to the last stages.

The job offers: 65 158 job offers are listed on the site. Most of the categories have hundreds, if not thousands, of available positions, but mechanical and electrical jobs and construction jobs have the most.

Reactivity: The team answers (in Japanese) within a couple of days.

Special features: Popular services (including a section just for women, one just for sports professionals, one for calculating your annual revenue and one for personality tests); CV advice (the Japan CV explained) and templates; the Doda calendar app; the app; the events; job fairs; scouting service (for jobseekers); the blog (Furi-kake, which has its own social media); the easy-access consulting form; the chatbot (in the recruiter page); the service for disabled workers; seminars; the reports (for recruiters).

Verdict: Doda is a great job board to use to recruit in Japan (or even overseas). There are so many services and so much information. The only drawback would be the lack of language options.

Michalle Ganemberg comment :

Hi there, Doda is one of the best job board in Japan. Unfortunately, the job posting service is terrible and the posting service take time to setup. It takes more than 1 month to have my advert online!! But once done, I received many applicants through my Doda Assist. Thanks!
