Opcionempleo Presentation

Site's statement

Opcionempleo South America is the online job search engine with the widest presence in south america, sourcing over 40 million job ads from more than 70 thousands quality websites from all over the world. Opcionempleo gives job seekers direct access to an extensive database of jobs, targeted to their needs, in just one straight forward search.

Opcionempleo is still expanding through its three brands: Careerjet (worldwide), Opcionempleo (Spanish language markets) and Optioncarriere (French language markets).

Jobboard Finder’s opinion

Summary: OpcionEmpleo is a Spanish and Latin American aggregator job board, belonging to the CareerJet group. Created in 2002, it focuses on the Spanish speaking marketing. According to Linkedin, the owners of the site are Jean-Benoit Andrieu and Thomas Busch. When you start your search through the site, you are either automatically directed to Argentinian jobs or Spanish ones. As an aggregator, the additional features, like a blog and social media, are practically non-existent. There are 148 followers on Twitter (nothing new since 2011 for Argentina) and another 2 930 on Facebook (which is for all of the different portals). There is no Linkedin and no links to the social media on the page.

Design:The search engine (what and where) occupy most of the homepage, which is a simple blue and white colour. On the job page, you have clear icons for the salary and location, which are featured above the job description. Some keywords (like the deadline or the type of application) are also present under each job offer. These little details attract the attention of the user. Some job offers actually come from different sites, but you can see that before you even open them (and the site from which they have been taken). The other filters are sector, type of contract, easy application, companies. At the end of an open job offer, the site suggests similar offers.

The job board objective: OpcionEmpleo (which means “employment option”).

Recruiter observations: Job offers stay on the site for 45 days. You can order ad space online, but you need a tax number.

Jobseeker observations: Many job offers redirect you to either a different job board or the company website. For the job offers with an easy application form, you need to fill out a short form of information, attach a CV and you can write a cover letter. For the others, you don't need an account.

The job offers: There are job offers from all over Latin America. Argentina and Spain have the most job offers.

Reactivity: --

Special features: Recent job searches; job alerts; partners in the footer.

Verdict: Like most aggregators, OpcionEmpleo lacks personality. That said, Spanish-speakers will be happy to find jobs in their language all in one place. Recruiters can easily post their offers for Spanish speaking jobseekers to see.

Job aggregator without innovation but it's okay for a classic job search in south america!
