Direct Emploi Presentation

Site's statement

Direct Emploi is an independent job board providing a wide range of job offers such as internships, part-time jobs, interim jobs and full time jobs for persons with zero to 10 years professional experience. The visibility of our job offers is enhanced by providing one general homepage with all the job ads and 8 pages specialised in the different sectors such as health, IT, distribution, restoration, industry, public management, internships and part-time jobs. The advantage of our job board is not only based on the doubled visibility of the job ads but also on the support for the users. We provide the applicants for work with valuable information for their search approach, and we publish weekly new articles that contribute to a successful job search.

Jobboard Finder’s opinion

Summary: Created in 1994 under the name of Direct Performance, Direct Emploi changed its name in 2002. It is the main website for a number of specialist job boards (including Carrière Informatique and Carrière Distribution). On social media, Direct Emploi has 302 followers on Viadeo, 367 on Linkedin, 7 829 on Facebook (no updates since October) and 626 on Twitter (no updates since 2016). The site gets about 406 330 views a month.

Design: The design is slightly different to the specialist job boards (except Direct Etudiant) and does not include a backdrop photo. Instead, there is a moving advertisement for the website next to the logo. The rest of the homepage is very similar to the other site (with a dominant blue colour). It includes the search engine (type of contract, location and keywords), the hiring companies (which offer jobs and/or internships), the Vinci video, the featured job offers and the list of search criteria. You can look up job offers by industry, job, region, department or city. Finally, there is an advice column and some articles. If you decide to look up job offers, the listing shows all the useful information (including logos) and some pages are customized. You can also choose to see only internships or training. Similar job offers appear under an open job offer. Finally, to narrow down the search, you can use the advanced search filters (the industry, type of education, experience, salary).

The job board objective: Direct Emploi is the go to website for jobs on any of the specialist job boards, for recruiting and more reliable website functions.

Recruiter observations: It’s easy to create an account and to order a package online. You can also order a single advert.

Jobseeker observations: You need to fill out your profile to create an account, which can be tedious. Furthermore, you must have a local phone number and specify your level of education. When you sign up to one website, you also sign up to the partner websites. Some of the job offers redirect you to another page (even another job board). For the others, you need an account, a CV and an optional cover letter.

The job offers: There are 154 652 job offers, 937 internships and 1 036 internship while studying opportunities (alternance) on Direct Emploi right now. They are taken from the specialist partner job boards and there is something for everyone.

Reactivity: --

Special features: The blog (which does not work); the job alerts; the job sheets (which don’t work); the CV visibility options; the tags (for the offers in the job listing); the 2018 SEEPH report (on employment and disability); the frequent searches; the popular searches; the internships and training opportunities.

Verdict: Unlike the specialist job board attached to Direct Emploi, this website actually has recent articles and working links. It’s easy for a recruiter to create an account, but it still seems that this group of job boards is really for French jobseekers and recruiters, rather than international users.
